[ Presidential Proclamation of UN Day ]

The festivities began on October 24, 1996 in the state capital, Lansing, Michigan, at 8:00am. About 600 people showed up for the protest, despite the unfavorable weather. There were about 5 speakers, each bringing up a different argument against the UN. After the speakers we all went across the street for the actual flag-raising. Here are some scenes from the day:

Members of the crowd...

...Friendly neighborhood media...

...And friendly neighboorhood riot police.

The Flag as it is going up and after is has gone up.

Same as last year, just as the flag goes up, the plane comes around the building with the "SAY NO TO THE UN" banner flying behind it.

A shot from within the crowd
